DiGeSt - Journal of Diversity and Gender Studies

DiGeSt – Journal of Diversity and Gender Studies - is an open access, bi-annual, peer-reviewed interdisciplinary and international journal hosted by Ghent University.

We are currently seeking desk editors to join the journal as part of a diverse editorial panel. This is an excellent opportunity for PhD candidates or early career researchers interested in gaining experience in academic publishing and editorial work. The position is voluntary and unpaid, and is usually combined with other academic responsibilities or full-time/part-time employment.

About DiGeSt: 

The journal aims to strengthen academic research at the intersection of Gender and Sexuality Studies on the one hand, and Diversity studies on the other, including discussions of ethnicity, race, migration, refugees, multiculturalism, religion or pluralism. It encourages research that focusses on contemporary issues and developments that shape superdiverse societies in all its possible tensions and challenges.

About you:

We welcome applications from PhD candidates and early career researchers in fields relevant to Gender & Diversity Studies. As the journal features interdisciplinary work, candidates should ideally be open to engaging with research beyond their own discipline and able to assess a variety of approaches. An excellent command of English is required. 

Activities of DiGeSt’s desk editors include:    

• Conducting desk reviews of new submissions and assessing their fit with the journal’s scope and standards
• Supporting the editorial team in maintaining an efficient and rigorous review process
• Advising on the suitability of manuscripts for peer review
