Proposing a Special Issue or Roundtable

Proposing a Special Issue

Guest editors interested in proposing a Special Issue to DiGeSt can send their proposal to digest@ugent.be.

DiGeSt accepts Special Issues on gender and sexuality on the one hand, and studies of ethnicity, race, migration, multiculturalism on the other. Engaging with both scholarly fields - of Diversity and Gender Studies -  is by no means a requirement but research that meaningfully does so is particularly welcome.

Special Issues contain an editorial introduction and at least 4 peer reviewed research articles. When the number of articles is not yet selected and the authors are not yet known, DiGeSt can launch a call for papers in collaboration with the guest editors.

Proposals should include:

  • General Abstract of the Special Issue
  • A 1-page introduction outlining how the Special Issue contributes to the field of Gender and/or Diversity Studies (see Aims and Scope)
  • Short biographical notes of Special Issue editor(s)
  • Short biographical notes of authors (when already known)
  • A list of abstracts of proposed articles (when already known)

Proposing a Roundtable

Authors who are interested in proposing a Roundtable to DiGeSt can send their proposal to digest@ugent.be.

DiGeSt accepts Roundtables on themes related to gender and sexuality on the one hand, and ethnicity, race, migration, multiculturalism, pluralism or diversity studies on the other. Engaging with both scholarly fields - of Diversity and Gender Studies -  is by no means a requirement but research that meaningfully does so is particularly welcome.

Roundtables are in total at least 5000 words long and can follow one of two distinct formats:

1)   One paper in which all participants are in conversation with each other.

2)  Separate short pieces by all participating authors that highlight different aspects of a central theme or research question.

Proposals should include:

  • The selected format of the Roundtable.
  • General Abstract of the Roundtable outlining how the Roundtable relates to the field of Gender and/or Diversity Studies.
  • Short biographical notes of authors.
